Arizona families are facing uncertain times. Kristie O’Brien is running to be a problem solver. She is a leader for all.

Kristie O’Brien is running for the Arizona State Senate to represent Legislative District 13 (Chandler, Gilbert, and Sun Lakes). Born and raised in the East Valley, Kristie grew up in Chandler and graduated from Dobson High. Kristie headed to the East Coast for college at Trinity, where she deepened her lifelong commitment to public service. She worked on Capitol Hill for both Republicans and Democrats, gaining a firsthand look at how decisions are made and how bipartisanship used to work in the the halls of power. That experience became even more personal when she lost family members in the 9/11 attacks in New York, shaping her understanding of both national security and politics on a global level. Kristie later worked at the International Criminal Court in The Hague, where she saw what happens when leaders abuse their power, while everyday citizens are just trying to survive.

Kristie returned home to Arizona to put down her roots. Navigating her father’s dementia and her twin babies early arrival made it clear just how close Arizona families are to facing financial crisis due to the rising costs of healthcare. Now, Kristie helps people navigate life’s toughest moments as a lawyer and a mediator. She’s ready to bring that experience to work for you at the State Capitol.

Meet Kristie

Priorities

  • Kristie will fight for legislation to counter the rising costs to businesses and families.

  • Kristie will protect your healthcare coverage, support our seniors and veterans, and expand affordable child care, because families of all generations should be able to live comfortably in our great neighborhoods.

  • In today’s classrooms sit tomorrow’s leaders and our community’s future. Meeting Arizona’s students’ needs requires supporting our K-12 schools, colleges, and educators.

  • As a lawyer and mediator, Kristie has spent her career negotiating real solutions. Now, she’s ready to take that experience to the Arizona Capitol, so that families know they have an advocate starting on Day 1.
